This great characters is different from any other collection but why? It is the first time its made for someone fictional rather then living. They had already made a writers edition for the author F. Scott Fitzgerald back in 2002 and in 2025 they made the Great Gatsby.
The Detail and Features
This piece has a lot of detail, such as the nib. As in the book, Gatsby had a yellow Rolls-Royce, which is embedded on the Au750 white gold nib. This makes the yellow gold Rolls-Royce pop and allows you to better see the detail. Of course, the gold coating on the piece is reminiscent of this, while also showing the wealth that Gatsby had.
The body of the piece is slightly shorter; it almost reminds me of the Boheme, which Montblanc discontinued back in 2026. It is slightly heavier at 92.6g (capped), which makes it very nice to use, I have to say.
At the end of the barrel, you will see a green stone. This represents the green light Daisy used to signal to Gatsby when she was aware he was living in the villa across the river.
Additionally, the black lacquered barrel is used to represent dirty money. In the book, we can read that he made his money during the time when alcohol was illegal (bootlegging).
On the cap, you will see a pinstripe pattern. This is marked for the valley, as they used to wear these shirts when Gatsby dropped off his Rolls-Royce.
The clip of this collection is completely different from any other piece Montblanc has made. This piece represents a money clip of his described in the books, while Montblanc had to create the JG logo in the center specifically for this piece.
